Passing Goodbye

This morning it was pouring. Despite severe thunderstorm warnings, we drove on to say our goodbyes. My older brother, a stronghold in the United States Army, is being deployed. Receiving a parting gift - a case of books - there will forever be a double meaning to every turned page. At times like this we look to the sky but the rays of the sun break through the clouds, as if to say there is nothing yet to mourn. If there's one element to take from a classic, it's the power of pathetic fallacy. Why then, oh why, does nature choose to reflect differently?
