What is socially connected?

It wasn't until yesterday when I decided to spend an hour or so catching up on a few tech-related news and recently published brain research studies that I learned about Android 4.4. KitKat. It's been almost 2 weeks since the name has been released and yet it's now that I come to hear about it. How have I not come to hear about it until now?!! Social media aside, the world is more connected now than ever before so how is it that something I keep an eye out for slips by? If the final answer to communication is social media, I say try again. It's something else. Something that is not relative or subjective, but universal and good. Fingers crossed I come to see that dream birthed in my lifetime.
